BEE THERE
"We understand the struggles and complexities that come with mental illness, and we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected." ~ Peggy Purtle Lee
about
In 2010, my loved one had their first psychotic breakdown. They were a freshman in college and like many, experienced a serious episode during their first year of higher education. As a parent, I began a journey of trying desperately to find help. However, I did not know where to start other than seeking a psychiatrist who simply prescribed medication. While this approach did lead to a full recovery, it was the beginning of a long and challenging journey navigating the complex web of resources and services available for mental health support. Without a guidebook or someone with extensive knowledge in this area, I made many mistakes and spent a significant amount of money.
Over the years, my loved one has been hospitalized in several states and received both inpatient and outpatient treatments. Through it all, we have encountered countless individuals who have helped us as much as they could, but the system itself proved to be a complicated spider web to maneuver. It often felt like we were constantly trying to dodge the venom of the next onslaught of psychosis.

Today, my loved one is a functioning, peaceful, and largely happy member of society. They still struggle with their illness and continue to fight their diagnosis, but most importantly, they are now consistently taking their medication. As someone who has never experienced mental health disease up close, it may seem obvious that taking medication is essential for recovery. However, acceptance can be the most challenging obstacle to overcome for those affected by mental illness.
Fear and forgiveness may also play a significant role in the battle for those who care and love someone with mental health issues.

Peggy's Experiences Led to Founding Bee There
Founder Peggy Purtle Lee has faced numerous barriers in trying to care for her son whose mental illness, includes addiction and other co-occurring disorders. We are determined to build a community that serves as a missing link for mental health awareness, support, and care.
Our goal is to create a local, national, and global point that individuals like Peggy and her son can turn to for guidance. We want Bee There to be the first place people think of when seeking information on managing this misunderstood life disease. Our community aims to bring all the "bees" to the hive for one purpose - providing everything in one place for individuals to start navigating life with mental illness and ultimately learn how to live a productive and happy life despite it.
Let's not over complicate it...
Bee There is about simplifying the process. We understand that mental health can be overwhelming and complex, which is why we want to make it easier for people to access the resources they need.
We believe that by eliminating unnecessary complexities, we can make a positive impact on those affected by mental illness.
So let's not over complicate it - Bee There is here to help. Let's join together and create a community that offers support, understanding, and hope for those struggling with mental health issues.
Together, we can make a difference and bring more awareness to this important cause. Let's bee there for each other.
